FIJI-Koroipita homes volunteering Review

Frank Farnsworth gavea an overview of where on earth Fiji is in relation to Australia, and google map images of Nadi, Lautoka, and Koroipita.

Ian Eldridge gave an overview of the history of Koroipita- how it started and the progress that has been made over time - moving form a small single roomed building to one of over 290 buildings, kinder, community centre, store and health centre. Stage 4 and 5 are planned  with stage 5 and 6 requiring further funding. A special visit is anticipated by a senior minister early August with much bussle on finishing our designated buildings 290 and 291, and finish up on many others.

Carolyn Millard gave a short pictorial presentation showing some of the aspects of the journey, and Wendy and Peter send throught their first impressions and experiences - with Wendy absolutely enjoying the appreciation of the ladies and their bras - collected and sent - new and second hand - from as far away as Adelaide. Many ladies in Koroipita are without suitable bras and they were shyly overwhelmed by the choices.
There is some learning from th nearly 2 weeks in Fiji and this will be carried through to next trip.

Overall an amazing experience with EOI being taken by Ian and Erin for 2024!

Time was spent with the Rotary Club of Lautoka where a slection of bras was donated to the club as a resource for ladies on the outer islands who have lttle access to quality garnments. This complemented the selection given to the ladies of Koroipita, after support with measuring and sizing by Erin. The ladies were very grateful for the nearly 300 bras supplied.
Concreting work tidied it all up and made on site
