  • We had a great meeting in Port Fairy last Wednesday with Peter Simons AG, and the presidents and secretaries from the available group 5 clubs. This was a great opportunity to meet other clubs and share projects, information, as well as things that are challenging and possible solutions. Some great projects in other clubs include supporting homelessness with accommodation, showers food and conversation, quilt shows, garden shows, sewing for Days for Girls, and long lunch to name a few! Portlands projects are exciting and shared with pride to the other members.
  • Did you know Group 5 clubs have now expanded to include Camperdown, Cobden, and Terang?

SAVE THE DATE - Monday 5th June 2023

*RI President Elect Gordon McInally will be visiting Mount Gambier Lakes  and an invitation has been sent from DGE Ian McKay to the Rotary Club of Portland to visit the Mt Gambier club for the RI Presidents visit. It would be great to see a contingent head over to Mt Gambier and share the inspiration, and some friendship with Ian and his club.

*Peter Taylor is working on some strategic planning information and using documents from other clubs to assist in planning. Information to club will follow in the next month.

PLEASE COMPLETE THE MEETING REVIEW SURVEY
*Peter Gracias has circulated this via email with the assistance of our trusty secretary - use this time to provide some great feedback to the club about your preferences. This will conclude at the end of the month so results can be shared next month.

*Last week I omitted to include in the bulletin, a thank-you card from Mrs Barbara Errey which reads-

"To Carolyn and members of the Rotary club of Portland - Thank you for the lovely flowers, cards and attendance at Donalds service. He would have been very humbled by the people there but so proud to be driven past his Woolies. He is now resting peacefully wearing his Rotary shirt. Thank you all again"  -Barbara Errey.

*We have had notification of the passing of a past Rotarian - Les Roberts, whose funeral was last Friday. A card has been sent to his family on behalf of our club.

A reminder for the focus on this month is Peace building and Conflict Resolution

Congratulations to our own -Karly and Leigh McWilliams who married on Friday February 3rd and found some beautiful weather amongst the rain and hail to share their vows. Karly is back on board at the end of the month after a well earned break, following the hub of wedding planning, deb season and general Christmas mayhem with the family.
We wish them all the very best for their future together.
Wishing you all a very happy St Valentines day and remembering those who are no longer with us.
