Communication

Many members have not been able to access the bulletin on a regular basis - this leads to misinformation, confusion and lots of double handling, and whispers. I often hear the response - "I don't know when this is on", or "I haven't heard about that", or "I didn't know it was happening".

There are many reasons why members are unable to "get on" -
  • don't know how,
  • too much email traffic and cant be bothered,
  • too busy,
  • forgot their logon, and many other reasons.
For a long while Erin Barker has not only been completing the bulletin, but also taking minutes, photos and looking for additional interesting information for members to read. Having done this for a short while, I can tell you it can take a few hours to gather all this information, and send it out for you all.

If I can ask you one thing to improve our efficiency in communication - please take time to read the bulletin.

Share your ability to access this with other members and show them 'how to' so everyone can stay informed. The bulletin is sent to you individually, and includes
  • the duty roster for the week coming, (are you helping with attendance?)
  • your role and group in the club eg. vocational director, international, membership, foundation or community
  • an update on speakers,
  • events,
  • activities, and
  • is generated by a program called 'Çlub runner', which we opted to use, and we pay for.

Tonight we had a short "how to"session, and I would encourage members who struggle to reach out and just ask.

Using electronic communication methods, which are now mainstream, means we can move forward with new members and share our interests.
