We welcomed back President Peter - who has been holidaying for 10 days in the outback trying not to get lost while Wendy took the direct path to cocktails and relaxation in Qld!

Peter welcomed members and guests.Rtn Owen had guest Roscoe Hein,
No Zoomers tonight!

We had another double dose of fines with sergeants Bob Hampshire and Tony McGee providing serious "Dad joke" humour.
Peter Simons reported 'make-ups' in Port Maquarie - and paid for the privilage.

Tri-State Games
We have a tremendous opportunity to assist with the Tri State games - doing as much or as little as we wish. Peter has been looking for feedback from other clubs that participated 2015/2016/2017 - said to be a great experience and around 5000 participants coming to Portland - waiting to hear back. Further information to be sent out via email - please have a look so we can talk about this further. Need to make a decision by December or so.

Regionalisation pilot
What is your club passionate about?
What could we achieve through increased support through collaboration?

Voting will occur by the end of the month on the type of club grouping/connection to other clubs - this could be by comunity service, theme, focus or geographically by location. In discussion with members - geographically could be an option but also through many of our other foci throughout the club - sayNO2familyvioence, cancer support, mental health and community school lunch program. Peter to particpate in a group C presidents session coming up.

Dayle King is assisting to progress a community needs analysis in collaboration with local services and our local shire - so we can avoid duplication and increase our impact on activities we put our effort into. More information to follow.

School Sandwich program
School sandwich preparation tomorrow (Tuesday) with local observer coming to take some photos. We have seven people ready to assist.

Marketing plan to show updated presentation and diagrams
  • Why?
    • current compass is a little known stone brick near ploughed field/small plaque - unknown and does not stand out, difficult to read, does not point out any tourist/commonly known Portland places - not a draw card or fascination.
    • Updated Portland Compass- stand out design and something to draw people to Portland to view and have a photo taken- logo provides tourism marketing opportuities
  • Where?
    • At the end of Lee Breakwater - natural compass point - 360 degree unobstructed view point
    • existing breakwater - navigation tower recently moved to assist design access
  • What?
    • Opportunity for "add-ons"  - possibility for Tee-shirts/cups/stubby holders/t towels etc which may provide an income stream for club

    • People can get close to turning ships and seeing ships and the port in action
